With summer quickly approaching, many are looking for a new show to occupy their time. Whether it’s on a rainy day, too hot to leave the house or just a perfect day to sit in bed and relax, a good TV show is an essential for filling up the long hours of summer vacation. There are two new shows in particular with new season release dates that have many excited: “The Summer I Turned Pretty” and “Never Have I Ever.” Both series provide excellent options for summer entertainment and captivate audiences with their interesting storylines.
“The Summer I Turned Pretty” tells the story of a young girl, Belly Conklin, throughout her summer, dealing with friendships, romance and self-discovery. The entirety of season one made its debut on Amazon Prime Video on June 17, 2022. This season had seven episodes, leaving viewers longing for more. On July 14, the first three episodes of the show will be released, and after that, a new episode will be released weekly. While some are not happy with this choice because they cannot binge watch all the episodes at once, others are delighted with the release schedule.
“I believe choosing to not release all the episodes at once builds anticipation. It leaves me hungry and excited for the following episodes,” junior Sarah Dempsey said.
“I’m ecstatic for summer because it means the return of ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty.’ They have a one of a kind cast with an amazing wardrobe and soundtrack. It is the perfect summer show,” junior Julia Kate Lopez said.

Fans are eager to see their favorite characters back in action.
Another show that is extremely popular, especially amongst teenage girls, is “Never Have I Ever.” This show follows Devi, a first-generation American Indian teenage girl who is trying to figure out her way through high school, making a lot of the wrong decisions as she goes along. Season four of "Never Have I Ever" will premiere on Netflix on June 8. Unfortunately for fans, this is the last season of the show.
“Last summer, season three premiered at some time in August, and I loved binge watching it with my friends. I can’t wait for it to come out but I am sad this new season is the last one,” Dempsey said.
“I am so excited to see whether Devi chooses Paxton or Ben. I really hope it’s one of the two, so I can't wait to see Devi’s decision,” freshman Breanne Noguera said.
For all “The Summer I Turned Pretty” and “Never Have I Ever” fans, the upcoming months are sure to be filled with exciting, engaging content that is perfect for a summer binge show.
