Actor Timothée Chalamet has officially shattered the box office record of starring in the two highest-grossing movies over a eight-month span in which they were released. He ended up breaking the previous landmark set by John Travolta in the late 1970s with his roles in the blockbuster hits "Saturday Night Fever" and "Grease." Timothée Chalamet achieved this record within eight months. He did this through his roles in the films "Wonka" and "Dune: Part 2," where he not only broke past the domestic revenue threshold of two hundred million dollars but also marked a new era in box office history, eclipsing a record that had remained unchallenged for over four decades.
“I think it is astonishing that the box office record has been broken again,” eighth grader Yuxuan Wang said.
As mentioned above, “Dune: Part 2” and “Wonka” have each exceeded the 200 million dollar mark. "Wonka," a remake movie based on the Roald Dahl book “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” has made over $600 million. “Dune: Part 2,” another movie based on the novel “Dune” by Frank Herbert, has grossed over $400 million in just a bit more than two weeks after releasing.
“The record was probably going to be broken sooner or later after John Travolta. I am excited to see what Timothée is going to have in store for us soon regarding movies,” eighth grader Isabella Zhu said.

Timothée Chalamet is one of the most successful actors of this generation.
"Wonka" in particular was a hard movie for Chalamet, as the movie had many different responses. Primarily, there was a sense of fear that came with the remaking of classic tales and films. Chalamet himself was also anxious and afraid, even voicing concerns about living up to the expectations attached to "Wonka." However, the movie shocked people when it introduced musical elements and resonated well with the audience. His embodiment of Wonka helped him rise as a prominent talent in the film industry, showcasing his adaptability and his ability to create a genuine connection with audiences worldwide.
“Chalamet has become a pretty big deal now. 'Wonka' was great, and I think he did a nice job with his role,” eighth grader Shree Patel said.
As he continues to portray a variety of characters it would be no surprise to continue to see Chalamet continue to crush at the box office movie after movie.
