John Wick 4: Hitman's a Hit

By Morgan Oberwiler

Nearly ten years ago, the first John Wick movie premiered. The film told the story of John Wick, played by Keanu Reeves, a legendary hitman who takes his fight against the High Table global as he seeks out the most powerful players in the underworld. Wick goes against an increasingly impressive roster of fellow assassins to avenge his dog.

“John Wick: Chapter 4” has taken the world by storm. After only a month in theaters, “John Wick: Chapter 4” has passed the $350 million mark at the global box office. Not only was it the most expensive of the series, it was also the longest. "John Wick 4" reported a budget of $100 million and was 169 minutes long.

"John Wick: Chapter 4" boasts a franchise-record runtime of close to three hours.

Some NHP Gladiators raved over the new movie, impressed with its exciting action scenes and acting.

“'John Wick 4' was a great movie,” senior Anthony Perkins said. “It was very long though. Wick got caught and had to fight for his freedom again. He ended up dying at the end, but we find out that his daughter is going to be the next John Wick to avenge her dad.”

“I think that they executed it very well,” Spanish teacher Ms. Salcedo said. “I felt like I was in the movie when I was watching it. They did a great job at portraying all the actions scenes to make you feel like you're in the movie.”

Other students of NHP were not satisfied with "John Wick: Chapter 4." They felt there were too many action scenes, and the run time was way too long.

“The movie was way too long. It would have been way better if it was less than two hours. The fight scenes felt dragged out,” senior Joel Massey said.

“It wasn’t my favorite. I felt distracted by how long the movie was. I wouldn’t recommend it,” junior Sarah Rose Dempsey said.
