Christine Vosswinkel-Blum or “Ms. Voss” has been recognized as NHP's Teacher of the Year for the 2020-2021 school year. Such an award comes with adequate reason, too, as Ms. Vosswinkel-Blum is no stranger to New Hyde Park Memorial High School. An NHP alum, she has been teaching here for 21 years. She has been able to positively impact the same building in which she grew up.
Not only is Ms. Voss a member of the social studies department, but she is also our school’s Director of Student Activities.
“As the Director of Student Activities, I have the pleasure of working with a multitude of young people who are actively engaged in a wide variety of extra and co-curricular activities. I am proud to oversee and support our students and their advisors in addition to fundraising and activities for over 70 clubs here at New Hyde Park Memorial HS,” said Ms. Vosswinkel-Blum.
Her dedication and passion for the New Hyde Park community has been appreciated for as long as she has been here. Between spearheading many of the major events in our school and maintaining a positive relationship with her students, Voss is a valuable contributor to both the students of New Hyde Park and the community as a whole.
“As student body president, I spent much of the school year planning events and working with Voss. She is undeniably a crucial mind behind the planning of every event involving our school. Her hard work and passion for New Hyde Park does not go unnoticed,” said senior Alessia LaSala.
“One goal I have for each of my students is to be the best version of themselves both inside and outside of the classroom. I hope that they grow intellectually not just as students but as global citizens as well,” said Ms. Vosswinkel-Blum.
Advice such as this is what Voss strives to spread to anyone and everyone that she can.
